Learning to play the guitar is a fulfilling endeavor that opens up a world of musical possibilities. While online tutorials and video lessons are valuable resources, there's something timeless and immersive about learning from books. The smell of the pages, the tactile sensation of flipping through chapters – it's an experience that many guitarists treasure. However, acquiring a collection of instructional guitar books can be financially daunting. Fear not, as this blog will guide you through some fantastic places where you can find low-cost books to aid your guitar-learning journey.

Used Book Stores

With the internet being the modern source for everything bookstores can often times be overlooked as a resource. Shopping online can save time and avoid mindless wondering in the store looking for guitar tabs. Thriftbooks.com is resource that has a large selection of guitar tablature books. The prices are hard to beat and the books come in good shape. I have personally used this resource many times.

Amazon

As the digital marketplace giant, Amazon boasts an extensive collection of both new and used guitar instructional books. Although finding used books on Amazon can be rare they do sometimes have them. This is mainly a convenient spot to shop for guitar tablature. Just search the particular artist you are shopping for and more than likely you are going to find it on Amazon. Additionally, Kindle editions provide a budget-friendly and eco-friendly alternative, allowing you to access your chosen material on your device anywhere, anytime.

Facebook Market

Social media isn't just for staying connected; it's also a thriving marketplace. I haven't used this much for searching for guitar books, but I have come across a few posts. Some times you'll come across a deal with a guitar, amp, and a few books for a really great price.

Ebay

eBay has long been a go-to platform for finding rare and unique items. When it comes to guitar instructional books, this platform can be a goldmine. This platform may be losing traction for online sales as Facebook Market Place becomes easier to sell from. Don't count it out though, you might be able to find some tab books for a great deal.

Online Sources

If you are looking for some free resources. Just to the search bar and type in your favorite song with guitar tabs in the search and you'll find a sea of sites to visit. ultimate-guitar.com has a large song list of guitar tabs for free. The free versions are some times incomplete or the transcription is not accurate to the original. Don't let that keep you from learning from this site it is free. Finger Tabs is another site that I have used to get tabs for acoustic guitar, all free. This site has different transcriptions from various guitarist interpretations of popular songs. Often they will also include a video of them playing the song.

Finding used books and free tabs is great way to build that playlist of songs to help you grow a foundation of techniques and understanding of how chords, and scales work together. Learning songs is the best way to learn the guitar. More important it keeps your hard earned cash in your pocket for things like pedals, strings, and gear.
